Exception 599:Unknown API Key Server problem -- run! [NOTOK] [NOTOK|] code 599

Hi,
Using V2.0 build 210 Community Edition on a MacBook intel core2duo with OS X 10.5 and Java 1.6.0_05
I know OSX is not supported.
I installed Java 1.6
I am starting Maltego with a specific --jdkhome option
The software will startup fine. All the menus are working fine. I can configure transforms, etc, etc.
I can load any of the sample MTG files found on the paterva site. Zoom in, zoom out. Change diagram styles, etc.
However, anytime I try to run a transform (any transform), I get this "unknown API key" exception 599. From what I read in the user manual, Maltego CE should run without registering an API key, right ?
I looked at most of the .conf and .xml files to see if there was such a key to specify somewhere. I found none for the CETAS... only some required for the CTAS (which I guess I am not using... since I have installed the CE version)
Am I doing something silly here ?
Thanks for any help.
