Sever requirements

I've checked the wiki about for server requirements hardware wise, Minminum: 1GB RAM, 2GHz CPU, 1Mb Internet access
Recommended: 4GB RAM, 3GHz dual core, >4Mb Internet access.
Just some I'm all the way clear is this bias to VPS to physical server
b/c I'm purchasing a VPS and wanted to make my own maltego server
and also to be clear your own maltego server is for you, so you dont have to pull info/ transformers from paterva's server's.
Also is there any way you can add your own info/database of information or upload links to pull info from, if my theory is right?

Hi The_Eccentric,
With regards to your query, as discussed in IRC, the server provides the integration with local data via the SQLTAS module, essentially you could put all your data in a sql database and have your own Maltego server query that information, which of course can then be used to find more information online or the other way around (online->local).
For example you could have a sql database connected to your webserver logs, then take the IP addresses in this database and identify the netblocks and reverse dns names within this netblock to identify a possible identity for the IP Address. Similarly you could say take a 'watched' netblock (such as known hacker space or competition) and use that to query against your local data to determine the pages they were viewing and the requests made.
If you have your own server you will not be querying against the commercial Maltego server (on the internet), so will not need to pull any transforms/information from it, but instead use yours. You can think of it as simply being a 'replacement' for the commercial tas with the additional integration with your internal data. The PTTAS also requires you to have your own server.
You can read more about the modules as well as the motivations for having your own server here:
http://www.paterva.com/web4/index.php/server/motivation
http://ctas.paterva.com/view/Maltego_Server_Modules
Finally the Maltego server is shipped as a Virtual Machine (VM) and can subsequently run on practically any server that supports the applications to run these.
Hope this answers your questions

I guess someone already answered the technical question regarding the Maltego server. I took me some time too to figure it out as I was not one of the best in this field. and I have look all over and I realized that I was late. It is great news that you already found the answer to your question, in fact, the hardware that you have does fulfill the minimum requirements and it should be running without any problems.
