I would like to be able to hide / filter out entities that have below a certain number of minimum incoming links to only show highly connected nodes.

I couldn`t find a feature like this in the docs so I guess it''s a feature req.

Can you currently do anything with the incoming / outgoing link counters or are they only informational?

Edge weighted view will "weight" the nodes on maximum outgoing connections. Within the new version however collection nodes will allow you to essentially filter by incoming/outgoing connections as similar ones will all be grouped within their own collection node.
