Hi,
I tried to start Maltego2 in BackTrack3 and windows come up properly, but I cannot close the top window:
"Welcome to Maltego V2 Community Edition"
I have no clue how to close this. I tried to push the "Subscribe" button, but I only get a beep.
Hm,
any ideas.

I run the BackTrack installed in VMWare Fusion on MAC.

thanks for your thoughts!

Hi Johx,

The community edition is crippled with a nag screen (which is the screen you are referring to) for 15 seconds, after this time you can click the continue button at the bottom of that window.

What i suspect is happening on your version is that the resolution is too low and that you cannot see the bottom of that screen. If possible try use a bigger resolution or move the window up to reach the button.

Hope this helps, if not send us a screenshot and i will personally take a look at it

Regards,

I am experiencing a similar problem with Maltego Community Edition 2.0.2 in BackTrack 4 beta.  The "nag screen" doesn''''''''t play well with the resolution on my Eee PC 701SD.  I''''''''ve tried holding down the <alt> key and moving the screen up, but the screen is literally "cut off".  The bottom of the "nag screen" is not present.

Is there a hot key that I can issue in order to close the screen after waiting 15 seconds?

Thank you and be well

--Edit--

Talked to the folks in the IRC channel. If you''''re experiencing similar issues as above, disable networking and (if you''''re using a wifi connection) disable NetworkManager:

~#service networking stop
~#service NetworkManager stop

Then fire up Maltego.  Click in the maroon-colored portion of the resulting screen, hit the <tab> key, then hit the <space> key.

Then you can go back and enable networking and NetworkManager:

~#service networking start
~#service NetworkManager start

Be well.

Thanks for updating this ColForbin, I have also added this to the wiki under known issues:
